Our aim is to provide technology solutions to Veterinarians so that they can provide exceptional care and service to their customers/patients, and provide solutions that optimise the performance of their practice.

We have been supporting the Veterinary Industry for 20 years with IT and can provide a wide range of services on request.

QuickVet Support Services

QuickVet users who pay the annual support subscription can be assured of our continued support for QuickVet software and optionally the hardware that is used to operate it. Hardware support is provided at a reduced hourly rate for these customers. On the other hand, we are unable to offer ANY form of support for QuickVet to users of the software that are NOT paying the annual support subscription. This is only fair and reasonable. We may be able to offer hardware assistance at our normal hourly rate BUT that cannot include any specific assistance for QuickVet related issues nor any updates or upgrades that may be available. Future updates for these lapsed users will be available at the going rate for new installations.

We can provide Assistance with these IT systems:

• Computer installations and networking, including wireless networking. We do NOT sell computers, preferring to configure and obtain DELL servers, desktops and laptops for our customers. These are always configured with 3 year onsite warranty from DELL.
• Configuration of Terminal Servers specifically for Veterinary usage. Most IT companies will configure servers as if you have a regular office and that is not particularly useful for most clinics. In fact most will not even know what a Terminal Server does!
• Remote support services of existing hardware and software using broadband remote access software.
• Broadband installation and utilisation including assessing the most cost efficient ISP and arranging transfer to new supplier. See details about Exetel
• Creating Virtual Private Network(VPN) between premises or from home to clinic, to allow secure remote access to a central server.
• Supply and installation of VOIP telephone systems, to take advantage of extremely inexpensive call costs available using this technology. We have seen telephone costs drop by hundreds of dollars per month using VOIP.
• Clinic security using CCTV and remote software for off-site access. This can also provide patient monitoring during non working hours.

What do we mean by IT?

Today, the term information technology has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing and technology, and the term has become very recognizable. The information technology umbrella can be quite large, covering many fields. IT professionals perform a variety of duties that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems.

When computer and communications technologies are combined, the result is information technology, or "infotech". Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information. Presumably, when speaking of Information Technology (IT) as a whole, it is noted that the use of computers and information are associated.

From a Veterinary point of view the uses of IT are considerable, often entering areas that have not previously been thought of as being "computer" related:

• Practice Management software, almost always involving the use of a network
• easy transmission of case histories via e-mail to interested parties. We simply send these as PDF attachments.
• use of the Internet for research or simply checking an animal on a Microchip database
• Digital Photography, optionally including storage of the image with a computer patient record.
• Digital Radiography with associated storage of images and even transmission of these to specialist referral centres.
• use of the Internet for telephone calls using VOIP technology. This is an excellent way to increase the utilisation of your broadband service to save significant amounts of money on these calls.
• SMS messaging direct from computer, to improve the communication with clients and also save on mobile phone call costs. We use a small software on the Reception Desktop to send these message. Return messages are directed to our normal landline and are viewable with the telephone handsets that we have. This service and software is included in our Internet account with Exetel.
• CCTV monitoring of clinic areas including hospital cage areas with images saved to hard-drive for follow up checking. Good systems will allow real time image viewing including access via the Internet. In our clinic we have a 4 camera system with IR capability so it works even in the dark.

There are bound to be many other uses that practices can find. All will be making use of some form of IT.
